We cut and sew this lightweight hat from plain woven cotton yarn. The brim sits wide around the entire crown, casting shade over the forehead and the back of the neck. An adjustable cord runs through the hat band to adjust the fit, and soft ties fasten under the chin.

Wide sewn brim

The brim circles the full crown with several rows of topstitching. It holds its outward shape without stiff inserts, stays pliable, and packs down flat into a bag.

Crown and chin ties

An elastic cord threads through the crown to tighten or loosen the circumference. Flat fabric ties extend from the side seams to secure the hat against breezes.

Cotton weave

We use a lightweight cotton fabric that stays light in warm weather. The weave allows air to move through the crown while maintaining a tight, uniform surface.
