We knit this beanie with a generous crown and a turned-up cuff that holds its place. The acrylic yarn is soft against the forehead and gives deep stretch across the rows. It folds down flat into a coat pocket when you head indoors.

Folded brim cuff

The deep cuff turns up over the ears for double thickness where the wind hits first. You can adjust the roll to change how low the crown sits on the head.

Acrylic yarn gauge

We chose a medium weight acrylic yarn that knits up thick without feeling stiff. It keeps its spring wash after wash and dries quickly on a flat rack.

Crown and drape

The top of the hat is gathered with enough slack to fall back in a soft slouch. It stretches wide over thick hair without pinching across the brow.

Simple wash care

Rinse the beanie in cool water with mild soap and press the moisture out in a towel. Lay it flat to dry so the ribbed rows keep their shape.
