We knit these with a soft acrylic yarn in a relaxed gauge that bunches down easily or pulls up to the knee. Ribbed bands anchor the top and bottom so the knit stays in place over tights, socks, or bare legs. The body mixes textured knit patterns along the length.

Top and bottom cuffs

Broad ribbing at both openings grips the calf or ankle without binding. The elasticity keeps the tube upright when pulled high or holds it gathered near the shoe.

Mixed knit pattern

Different knit textures run down the main body to give the piece structure and weight. The loose tension allows plenty of crosswise stretch so it pulls over heavy winter socks or boots.

Acrylic yarn

We chose a soft, bulky acrylic yarn that traps warmth without feeling heavy. It holds its loft through repeated wear and resists stretching out of shape after being pulled taut.

Washing and care
