We knit these long striped socks with extra width through the leg and thigh. The broad top cuff holds without rolling down, while the smooth synthetic yarn gives plenty of crosswise stretch. You can wear them pulled high above the knee or pushed down as a slouch sock.

Top cuff elastic

We knit the upper band wide with firm elastic thread running through the courses. It stays in place over fuller thighs without cutting into the leg or bunching down into boots.

Green and black stripes

The horizontal bands run the full length of the sock from the toe to the upper hem. We knit both yarn colours in a flat gauge so the fabric stays smooth against boots and skirts.

Reinforced heel and toe

We add extra thread to the heel pocket and the rounded toe seam. That extra gauge adds body where shoes rub, helping the stocking keep its shape through repeat wear.

Washing and care

Machine wash these socks in cold water on a gentle cycle, preferably inside a mesh wash bag. Lay them flat or hang them on a line to dry so the elastic keeps its recovery.
