A light gray shell sewn from tightly woven synthetic yarn that sheds wind and packs down flat in a bag. We built it with an adjustable hood, a drawcord hem, and elasticated wrists to close the gaps when the weather turns. Two zip pockets hold a phone and keys off the trail.

Hood and drawcord hem

The hood adjusts with a cord to sit close around the head when the wind rises. Along the bottom edge, a matching drawcord pulls the hem tight so the fabric does not ride up.

Elastic cuff closure

We finished the sleeves with narrow elastic bands that gather the fabric at the wrist. The cuff stays in place as you move your arms and stops drafts from running up the sleeve.

Zipper and pocket construction

A full-length front zipper runs from the hem to the chin for quick layering over a fleece or tee. Two side pockets close with zippers to keep pocket items tucked away securely.

Woven yarn and care

The dense synthetic weave folds small enough to tuck into a daypack without taking over the main pocket. Wash on a gentle cold cycle and hang to dry on a line.
